Organise a Friends of Mahboba’s Promise Group

To begin a Friends of Mahboba’s Promise group in your area is easy.

The group doesn’t need to be formal. The only requirement is that you register your intent with Mahboba’s Promise. Doing so will get you support from the organisation in the way of information and public liability (for holding public meetings and events) plus the connection to Mahboba’s support community.

Some ideas:

  • generate public interest to join your group through private or public film screenings
  • create awareness and generate funding through any activity you can think of that is within your capacity to organise:

    • Garage Sales
    • Second Hand Book Stalls
    • Market stalls
    • Collection Boxes
    • Whatever your passion is go with it… from the heart.

Some other ideas:

Connect with your local Refugee Support Group. Check with your Neighbourhood Centre if there is one.
invite guest speakers to your meetings or events. Especially people who can help break down cultural barriers.

Share your story with others by posting information of your group. Write about how the group formed and what you are doing to help make a difference to the lives of the women and children of Afghanistan.

For further detail on setting up a group and/or running it please contact Mahboba’s Promise on +61 2 9887 1665 or email.
